TOPIC: “How, Why and When: Genetic Testing in EDS for the Non-Geneticist”
About our speaker: Dr. Mitzi Murray
- Dr. Murray is a clinical geneticist with a focus on evaluating and providing care for individuals and families
with heritable connective tissue disorders.
- She also interprets molecular diagnostic tests and acts as assistant director of the Collagen Diagnostic Laboratory, directed by Dr. Peter Byers.
- Dr. Murray earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and her M.D. from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
- She first came to the University of Washington to train in clinical genetics and later pursued additional training in clinical molecular genetics.

During that time, she also completed a master’s degree and fellowship in bioethics.
- She is a fellow of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and is board certified in clinical genetics and in clinical molecular genetics
