We are very excited to announce the introduction of the First, Online, Free, WNA CEAP accredited Ehlers-Danlos Nursing Continuing Education program.
We launched this program in January and just added the 2nd of 6 planned free courses. Anyone can participate in these programs.
Nursing is the largest healthcare profession, with over 3.6 million nurses in the US alone. Nurses spend more time with patients than many other health professionals, and they are experts in helping patients live with
their health issues. By training nurses, EDS Awareness hopes that all patients with EDS will be able to find knowledgeable healthcare professionals who can help them get timely, safe, quality, compassionate care for their EDS-related issues.
In 2019 the EDS Nursing Advisory Group was formed as the first step in developing these courses. This group of experts, has developed the following goals for the first set of six
courses:
Goals for EDS Nursing Continuing Education Program
- Provide safe, quality care for patients with EDS
- Recognize signs that a patient may have EDS
- Assist patients with EDS and their families in navigating the healthcare system to get a diagnosis and appropriate treatment
- Advocate for patients with EDS to other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Empower patients with EDS and their family members to advocate for themselves
The first two nursing courses are now released with more courses to follow.
Please visit the nursing
program site to review these free, new programs.
All patients and healthcare providers are also welcome.
Promote these programs with your friends, medical team and on Social Media.
